this stuff seems to be all the rage right now.

I've never had it. Isn't it pricey?

It's very pricey compared to the average Vodka partly because it's french and partly because they have created a higher perceived value.

It's really nice mixed but drinking it straight it's not as smooth as a Belvedere vodka.

I'm not the best Vodka judge though, I would much rather have a Bombay and Tonic

Lots of premium vodkas.....they are more pure (filtered) and can significantly reduce chance of hangover. I was on kettle one/soda only for about five years and never had a hangover. Just in the past few years I've started drinking beer, tequila, captain, and jack...guess what. Hangovers! In fact I had all five mentioned above just last night and I'm wondering why the hell I'm staring at a computer screen right now...

Grey Goose is perceived as being superior due to good marketing, sponcership of top sporting events, promotions and the very smart, subtle tactic of high pricing. They charge more for their vodka because they correctly predict with the aid of the above mentioned actions, that people will buy it simply because it is expensive.

Very american.

Grey Goose is pretty good, but Ketel One blows it out of the water. However, Grey Goose L'Orange is the best flavored vodka out there IMO.

Thanks for the info guys.

WC, no OJ and vodka ?

Yeah, I do now. I used to care more about the calories and empty carbs...vodka and soda is about as healthy a drink as you can get if there is such a thing....and I used to drink a lot more than I do now.

I need a bloody mary bad right now. Since my last post in this thread I tried to sleep off the hangover. It's worse now. Fucking alcohol.

I'm with HC...I prefer kettle one. BTW, it's maybe a buck more per drink if you order it at the bar. You want to save money here in vegas, order double kettle/soda or whatever you want to drink it with, light on the whatever, preferably in a short glass.

three or four and you are on your way, and you won't have to piss every five minutes like you do when you drink 12 beers.

I was a Goose man, but at 60 per bottle (1.75) and 3-4 bottles a week, I shifter to Skyy at 24 per bottle and now I much prefer Skyy to Goose

Drink a piss-load of beer but my father in law has a bar on Ft.Lauderdale Beach and him and his friends turned me onto a real high rollers vodka.........This shit is smooth and tasty! I really don't sway from beer too much but half the fun of this vodka is ordering it by name. Whoever was the marketing genius behind this name deserves the cash he gets!

"EFFEN" vodka.............I like rollin into a bar with my Ny accent and saying, "Yo, you got any "effen" vodka"? Usually you get some idiot telling you to go fck yourself until they realize it really exist!

http://www.effenvodka.com/effen.html

Give it a try sometime!

Effen is OK. My GF likes their black cherry flavored. As far as regular vodka goes, I will still stand by Ketel One being the best/smoothest/most hangover-free.

Since we're still talking about vodka, try the Van Gogh brand flavored vodkas. Pineapple is my fave.
If you are at a bar that carries the Van Gogh line, try this drink and thank me later. I made it up and it is the best vodka drink invented since the martini IMHO. In a tall pint glass, lotsa ice; 3 oz Van Gogh pineapple, fill almost to top with Red Bull, spash of OJ on top. Fucking outstanding.

While we're on drink recipes also, try this version of a grape kool-aid:
Done as a shot, like a Jagerbomb...
3 Olives grape vodka
Red Bull
A little Blue Curacao
A little grenadine
Mix all, chill, pour into rocks glass. Chug like a bomb.

Guaranteed to drop her panties!!!

im not a real big vodka drinker, but my friend always gets this polish vodka called krolewska or something like that, its pretty damn good, a few of my friends also drink VOX and they seem to like that a lot, grey goose and belvedere are also good but i know they are pricey...ill take a bottle of jack daniels or crown royal over any vodka though

Just saw a commercial yesterday about vodka. It promoted Smirnoff as being the best in a taste test.

I don't know how one goes about taste testing vodka, after awhile it's gotta all taste like lighter fluid.

Smirnoff is reliable and good.
Stolie's - stay far far away from this shit. Hangover city.
Grey Goose is overrated.
Beefeater is nice with tonic and lime. - always got a better buzz from this vodka.
Absolute is so so. Not bad with cranberry juice. Even better is the Ocean Spray Cran-Cherry with a lemon.

My store sucks. They had no belvedere, nor did they have any of the flavored grey gooses.

Anyways, I got the regular Grey Goose and some orange juice. I made the drinks 2 Part GG, 1 part OJ, 1 part purified water (I dont like sweet OJ) with ice. And wow, it is some DAMN GOOD stuff. I woke up with a half a box of pizza next to me that I barely remember going to get and I dont know where the bottle went. A search would later reveal that it was empty and in the trash.

Very pleased.

This thread got me to wanting a drink after work today.

So I tried Belvedere for the first time.

Whoa! Very Good Stuff.

Had it with Cranberry and lime. The vodka is very smooth and I can tell it would be good with your favorite vodka drink.

I highly recommend this vodka. Thanks Rx posters for bringing this to my attention. I'll now be on the Belvedere kick for a while.
